Gloucester Rhythm & Blues Festival
This feature was originally published when Café René hosted the Gloucester Rhythm & Blues Festival, now firmly established in the Gloucester events calendar as a celebration of live blues and rhythm music.
Café René was once home to a full week of live entertainment, welcoming leading R&B bands from the UK, Europe and as far afield as Australia.
Past performers included The Larry Miller Band, Mike Sanches, Willie & The Bandits, Will Killeen, The Keith Thompson Band, The Ragtime Jug Orchestra and Profoundly Blue, among many others.
The grand finale weekends combined non-stop live music inside Café René and in Greyfriars, alongside a popular Real Ale & Cider Festival, pig roasts, the famous Rene BBQ, face painting and ghost walks, creating a vibrant celebration of music in Gloucester city centre.
The Gloucester Rhythm & Blues Festival continues today across venues in the city.
