Nature in Art near Gloucester has unveiled an inspiring autumn programme combining poetry, wildlife, contemporary craft and its popular annual Gift and Craft Fair
Visitors to Nature in Art at Wallsworth Hall, Twigworth, can discover a changing programme of exhibitions throughout September, October and November, showcasing the relationship between art and the natural world.
In Sync: Words and Wonders
Running until 4 October 2026, In Sync: Words and Wonders brings together artworks from Nature in Art's extensive collection alongside contemporary and historic poetry.
The exhibition explores the centuries-old relationship between visual art and the written word, including the influence of poetry on artists and the inspiration that writers have found in art and nature. Visitors are also invited to pause during their visit and create their own poetic responses to the works on display.
Looking Deep into Nature
From 29 September – 25 October 2026, Looking Deep into Nature celebrates the life and work of artist Peter Partington SWLA, who died in 2025.
Partington spent his life observing wildlife, creating paintings, sculptures and prints inspired by birds, animals, habitats and the changing seasons.
The retrospective includes items from his studio alongside a diverse selection of works, including pieces from private collections that have not previously been displayed publicly. Partington had a long association with Nature in Art. He exhibited in its inaugural exhibition in 1985 and became its first artist in residence in 1989.
Wild – Cotswold Craftsmen at Nature in Art
Nature takes centre stage again from 20 October – 15 November 2026 with Wild, an exhibition featuring members of the Cotswold Craftsmen Guild.
The exhibition brings together printmaking, jewellery, wirework, textiles, willow work, sculpture, painting, resin art and other disciplines, with each maker offering an individual interpretation of the natural world. From woodland forms and botanical structures to animals, landscapes and natural textures, the exhibition explores the many ways nature continues to inspire contemporary makers.
Annual Gift and Craft Fair
Nature in Art's popular Gift and Craft Fair returns on Sat 31 Oct – Sun 1 Nov 2026, with more than 45 stalls showcasing unique handmade crafts and nature-inspired creations.
Held at Nature in Art for more than 20 years, the fair includes woodwork, ceramics, glassware, photography, jewellery, textiles, resin art and flower art, with some stallholders demonstrating their crafts during the weekend.
Visitors can also explore the galleries and sculpture garden, enjoy refreshments from the special Craft Fair menu and visit Nature in Art's new homemade and homegrown stall, which will help raise funds for the Nature in Art Trust.
The Gift and Craft Fair runs from 10am – 5pm each day, with admission costing £3 on the door. Under-eights and Friends of Nature in Art receive free entry.
