The Mousetrap Comes to Everyman Theatre Cheltenham in 2026

The Mousetrap Cheltenham

Agatha Christie's legendary murder mystery The Mousetrap arrives at the Everyman Theatre Cheltenham from Monday 21 to Saturday 26 September 2026 as part of its landmark 75th Anniversary UK Tour, starring television favourites Nicholas Bailey and Susan Penhaligon.

Recognised as the world's longest-running play, The Mousetrap has captivated audiences for more than seven decades with its unforgettable twists, memorable characters and one of theatre's greatest mysteries. Now, Gloucestershire audiences have the chance to experience the iconic thriller live at the Everyman Theatre.

A Theatre Classic Celebrates 75 Years

Since opening in London's West End in 1952, Agatha Christie's masterpiece has become a global theatrical phenomenon. Earlier this year, The Mousetrap celebrated its remarkable 30,000th performance and received a Guinness World Records certificate recognising it as the longest-running theatrical production in history.

The new 75th Anniversary UK Tour celebrates this extraordinary milestone, bringing the timeless whodunnit to audiences across the country before arriving in Cheltenham for six performances this September.

Television Stars Lead the Cast

Leading the cast is Nicholas Bailey as Major Metcalf. Best known for playing Dr Anthony Trueman in BBC's EastEnders, Bailey has also enjoyed an acclaimed stage career, appearing in productions including King Lear, Dreamgirls, Macbeth and Julius Caesar.

Joining him is Susan Penhaligon as Mrs Boyle. A familiar face to television audiences through acclaimed productions including Bouquet of Barbed Wire, A Fine Romance, Bergerac, Doctor Who and Emmerdale, Susan has also enjoyed an extensive career on stage in London's West End and theatres across the UK.

Further casting for the anniversary tour will be announced in due course.

Can You Solve Britain's Greatest Murder Mystery?

A shocking murder has taken place in London. Cut off by a fierce snowstorm, seven strangers arrive at the remote Monkswell Manor seeking shelter. When a police sergeant appears with disturbing news, suspicion quickly falls on everyone inside.

As secrets begin to unravel and every conversation hides another clue, audiences are challenged to solve the mystery before the final dramatic reveal. It's the suspense, intrigue and famous ending that have kept theatre-goers guessing for more than 70 years.

Don't Miss The Mousetrap in Cheltenham

Whether you're discovering Agatha Christie's famous thriller for the first time or returning to experience the magic again, The Mousetrap promises an unforgettable evening of suspense at the Everyman Theatre Cheltenham.

Running from Monday 21 to Saturday 26 September 2026, this special anniversary production is expected to be one of the theatre's most popular dramas of the autumn season.
