'Live' Roman Soldiers at Corinium Museum Easter event Cirencester

Romans at Corinium Museum

Roman soldiers march into Corinium Museum this Easter for family fun in Cirencester

Step back in time this Easter at the Corinium Museum in Cirencester, as Roman soldiers take over for a special live event bringing the past to life for visitors of all ages.

Taking place on Friday 10 April and Saturday 11 April, this immersive experience is set to be one of the standout Easter events in Cirencester and a great choice for families searching for things to do this Easter in Cirencester.

Across two action-packed days, the renowned Ermine Street Guard will transform the museum’s Hare Gallery with a programme of demonstrations and hands-on activities. Known for their historically accurate portrayal of Roman military life, the group will showcase battle formations, authentic equipment and the daily routines of Roman soldiers.

Children can enlist in Roman Soldier School, learning basic training techniques and taking part in military manoeuvres, while visitors are encouraged to bring a camera for the chance to capture a photo with a Roman soldier in full armour.

Throughout the day, living-history displays and artefacts will offer a fascinating insight into Roman craftsmanship, materials and weaponry. Live demonstrations take place at 10:30am, 1:30pm and 3pm.

This event is included within standard museum admission and is supported by the Friends of the Corinium Museum, making it an easy and engaging day out during the Easter holidays.
