Dean Heritage Centre is the place to visit during the summer school holidays this year!

This July and August, the Dean Heritage Centre invites everyone to join for a season full of fun and educational activities designed to entertain the whole family.

Nestled in the beautiful Forest of Dean, the centre is the perfect destination for a memorable summer outing.

Dean Heritage Centre Summer Programme Highlights:

Week 1: 24th - 30th July

  • Bug Hunt: Explore the fascinating world of insects with guided bug hunts.
  • Mini-Beast Hotels: Learn how to create a cozy habitat for mini-beasts in your garden.
  • Woodland Walks: Enjoy scenic walks and discover the flora and fauna of the Forest of Dean.

Week 2: 31st July - 6th August

  • Forest Crafts: Get creative with nature-inspired crafts using materials from the forest.
  • Den Building: Test your skills and build the perfect woodland den.
  • Nature Detectives: Become a nature detective and solve the mysteries of the forest.

Week 3: 7th - 13th August

  • Wildlife Wonders: Meet some of the forest’s resident wildlife and learn about their habitats.
  • Pond Dipping: Discover the underwater world of ponds with fun pond-dipping activities.
  • Storytelling Sessions: Enjoy enchanting stories inspired by the forest and its inhabitants.

Week 4: 14th - 20th August

  • Clay Creations: Make your own clay masterpieces inspired by the natural surroundings.
  • Bird Watching: Learn about the different bird species that call the forest home.
  • Forest Games: Participate in fun, family-friendly games set in the heart of nature.

Week 5: 21st - 27th August

  • Treasure Hunts: Embark on exciting treasure hunts through the forest.
  • Outdoor Art: Create stunning artworks using natural materials.
  • Forest Music: Experience the sounds of the forest with interactive music sessions.

Week 6: 28th August - 3rd September

  • Survival Skills: Learn essential survival skills such as fire lighting and shelter building.
  • Leaf Identification: Identify various tree species and their leaves.
  • Farewell Celebration: Join a special end-of-summer celebration with fun activities for all.

Throughout the summer, the Dean Heritage Centre will also feature special exhibits, live demonstrations, and a variety of workshops tailored for all ages. The on-site café offers delicious refreshments, and the gift shop is stocked with unique souvenirs to remember the visit.
